Physical Therapy Assessment
A physical therapy assessment is a comprehensive evaluation of the patient’s movement condition, aimed at creating a detailed medical record that outlines the current status of the body, muscles, and joints, to identify improvement areas to be monitored throughout therapy sessions.
Assessment Method
The Technical Director evaluates movement, muscle strength, range of motion, and body posture.
All observations are recorded in the patient’s file as a reference to track progress.
The assessment may also include simple tests of muscle and joint function as needed.
The assessment usually lasts 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the condition.
Purpose of the Physical Therapy Assessment
Create a detailed patient file reflecting the current condition.
Identify improvement points to monitor session by session.
Develop a customized treatment plan for each case to ensure the best possible results.
Track the patient’s progress scientifically and systematically.
Difference Between Physical Therapy Assessment and Orthopedic or Neurological Assessment
Orthopedic or neurological assessments focus on diagnosing a problem or identifying the medical cause, such as fractures, nerve inflammation, or joint injuries.
Physical therapy assessment focuses on evaluating movement and muscle functions, identifying objective points to monitor improvement session by session, and creating a treatment plan—not just medical diagnosis.
In short, a physical therapy assessment is a crucial step for personalizing treatment and achieving clear improvements in mobility and daily performance.
At Bodyfix, every physical therapy assessment is part of an integrated treatment program, with precise session-by-session monitoring to ensure progress according to recorded evaluation points and achieve the best results scientifically and safely.
